In summer 2008, Stephanie was working the Philadelphia 4th of July parade as an assistant to long time teacher/boss/matchmaker extraordinaire, Dana. Stephanie noticed Danny’s bright blue eyes as he was performing with Fralinger String Band and immediately asked Dana who he was. She responded “Danny Marakowski, I’ll set you up.” After an embarrassing Facebook post from Dana on Danny’s wall, Stephanie and Danny began talking and then dating.
Five years later, Danny and Stephanie took a trip to the Dominican Republic, where Stephanie had the feeling he might propose. When they arrived to the hotel, the door was dressed with a banner that said “honeymoon,” which made Stephanie’s suspicions grow even more. But after spending 5 days relaxing and enjoying each other’s company, there was still no proposal- the banner was nothing more than a mistake by the hotel. Returning to work the next week and pushing the thoughts of an engagement to the back of her mind, she was surprised when she was interrupted by one of her assistants on her busiest night of classes. Her assistant told her to shut her music off, so she did, and then she announced that she had a new student. Standing there confused (any dance teacher KNOWS you do not get a new student 2 months before the recital), she looks up and sees Danny at the doorway (and Dana with a huge smile and camera). She then knew exactly what was happening! Dan got down on one knee in front of her class, parents, and an entire zumba class and proposed. They continued the celebration at their favorite place, For Pete’s Sake.
Stephanie and Danny are so excited to celebrate with their family, friends and entire wedding party next November!
